TPU、TPE，都是挤出加工成型，TPE的手感，柔韧性比TPU好，价格也比TPU便宜，从硬度上看TPE可以做到0A—100A，而TPU最低只能做到55A以上，虽然同属于热塑性弹性体塑胶，但是TPU的弯曲模量要比TPE高。
TPU的特点就是强度高，耐磨性好，这两点是其它TPE材料不能替代的！ TPU的耐磨、强度性能要比TPE好很多，但是手感没有TPE好，目前TPU最软的硬度大概做到55A以上。
TPU的主要特性有：硬度范围广，而且随着硬度的增加，其产品仍保持良好的弹性和耐磨性、机械强度高、耐寒性突出、加工性能好、耐油、耐水、耐霉菌、再生利用性好。TPE相比TPU在高硬度下的弹性损失比较大。
TPE英文名称Thermoplastic Elastomer的缩写，意思是热塑性弹性体，是一类具有塑料塑性及橡胶弹性的特殊功能性材料。
